Tackboard: Free NKP Buy/Sell/Trade Listings

This section of the NickelPlate48 Website allows users to listings to sell, buy or trade Nickel Plate O Scale models and related items, as well as Nickel Plate books and railroadiana and more generic items, such as electronics suitable for O Scale. Allowed listings extend to include W&LE, P48 and three-rail Nickel Plate items. Use common sense.

For those of you familiar with Blog-style website formats, this Section is set up like a separate Blog. This introduction and directions is the posting, to which users seeking to list items respond in a comment, in a style and subject to the conditions noted.

Transactions based on the listings are direct between the lister and respondents. The Website and owner do not represent listers, broker deals, take fees or commissions or get involved in transactions.

Listings are free, limited to a reasonable number of posts and reasonable numbers of items. Photos are allowed, assuming we can deal with the format. Short descriptions of items are encouraged, but not editorializing. Discussions between listers and respondents need to take place directly, not through the Website.

Listings may include links or email addresses so respondents can request larger lists. Hobby shops and other dealers may list, and include links, so long as the items for sale are offered directly . However, references or links to other, commercial selling sites, such as ebay, are not allowed.

Listings may be taken down after 30 days or after completion of the transaction. Let us know in a comment to your original listing when disposition is complete. Lists containing multiple items need to be periodically updated as items are sold or items sought obtained. Do that by replying to your original listing and indicating items sold or obtained (not by repeating the entire list). Limit updates to weekly except in unusual circumstances.

Requests for listings are moderated to screen for spam, suspicious content, inappropriate materials, flaming, compliance with rules and good taste. Noncompliant listings, including those for scales other than O, will not be approved (even if Nickel Plate related).

The Internet is a dangerous place; and the risks of scamming, phishing and false representations are real and constant. We will not knowingly allow fraudulent listings; however, the Website does not screen and makes no endorsement regarding sellers or purchasers; neither do we review or endorse the description or condition of merchandise offered, prices quoted, payment methods, delivery status or damage.

Due diligence on the part of persons using the TACKBOARD, in particular, is required. Verify the identity of who you are buying from or selling to. Document merchandise and condition. Use payment and shipping methods which include protection in the event a transaction goes bad. And, obviously, do not reveal anywhere on the Website credit card or banking information or anything else requiring privacy or protection. Take all precautions to protect yourself.

Listing format is standard: list the transaction (“For Sale”, “For Trade”. “Looking For”), then a description of the item (e.g, Atlas Covered Hopper, assembled, painted and lettered NKP 99044. 2 rail. Unrun. Original Box) and then the price and arrangements (e.g. $50.00 or best offer, plus shipping from [zipcode]). Always include the scale of the model. Include the method(s) of payment allowed.

Strongly suggested is the use of forms of payment and methods of shipping that provide redress if there issues with the seller or buyer, with the description or condition of the merchandise or with the shipping or damage.

Each listing needs to include a contact, using your full name, email address and other contact information. Be aware that the listing will be viewable by anyone accessing the site, so do not include in your listing any information (such as a phone number or street address) that you wish to keep private.

To obtain a listing, write out and submit what you are offering or seeking, using the standard format described. The content will be reviewed (may take a day or two), approved (subject to editing per above) and posted. Further communications concerning the listing are for the lister and respondents.
